Line 5 of the Hanoi Metro (Kim Ma Line) is a planned metro line from South West Lake at Van Cao Road to Bi Vi District in the northwest of Hanoi. Line 5 is also referred by its route as the Van Cao ↔ Hoa Lac Line.
Line name: Kim Ma Line.
Total length: 38.4 km.
Number of stations: 17 stations.
The line is being planned in 2 phases:
Phase 1: South West Lake – An Khanh: 14.1 km with 10 stations.
Phase 2: An Khanh – Ba Vi: 24.1 km with 7 stations.

“Hanoi’s Department of Transport, CPCG, and Vinaconex inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to study and build metro line No.5”.
“Metro line No.5, also known as the Van Cao-Ngoc Khanh-Lang-Hoa Lac line, will run 38.43 kilometers linking four inner-city districts with satellite urban areas. It is designed to run 6.5 kilometers underground, two kilometers on an elevated section, and the remaining 29.93 kilometers at ground level.
The line, with 21 stations and two depots, had its planning approved in 2011 and was set to be implemented in the 2021-2025 period.”
