Hanoi held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 22nd of June, 2026, for five new metro lines with a total investment of approximately VND1.3 quadrillion (US$49.4 billion).
The metro lines are being undertaken by the Vinhomes – VinSpeed consortium as EPC general contractor (design, procurement and construction package), and the lines are expected to be completed by 2030.
The lines include:
Line 1: Hung Vuong Stadium – Railway Industrial Park – Ngoc Hoi – Hanoi station – Yen Vien – Thu Lam multi-purpose urban area – Noi Bai International Airport.
Line 2: Noi Bai International Airport – Tran Hung Dao – Thuong Dinh – Hung Vuong Stadium.
Line 8: Hoa Lac – Son Dong – Mai Dich – Ring Road 3 – Linh Nam – Duong Xa.
Line 10: Co Loa – Vo Chi Cong – Ring Road 3 – Ring Road 2.5 – Times City – Co Loa.
Line 14: Thang Long Bridge – Hong Ha – Ocean Park.
